URGENT NOTICE: We have recently come across a couple of instances whereby hackers/scammers have been able to hack into emails between 2 members and pretending to be the debtor agent and issuing revised bank payment instructions, one was so clever that they had intercepted the debtors copy invoice and amended/forged the bank payment details on the invoice. but the email ID’s were marginally different.
Please forward this email to your accounts team.
Do not ever accept revised bank payment details, there are several way you can double check you have the correct ASA members bank details . Firstly if its repeat business you should be holding on file the members correct bank details. Secondly you can quickly double check the members bank details on the ASA website as these details are noted. Finally before making payment to a revised banking instruction call the member on the phone to check if they have issued any revised banking instructions.
We also strongly advise you to add the paragraph below (or words similar) underneath your signature on all your emails.
Special Notice:- Please note our banks details remain the same unchanged as displayed on our invoice, and on all previous transactions. Do not accept any requests to change our bank details without first confirming this with us directly on the phone or via direct text to our senior management.
This warning is sent to prevent your company possibly acting on revised banking instructions from a hacker/scammer.
Many thanks
Best regards
Robert
