Payment Protection Policy (PPP) – Proposal

4th August 2022

ASA PPP draft proposal to members

Dear ASA Members, we are delighted to propose the launch our ASA Payment Protection Plan (PPP) effective from the 1st January 2023 or possibly before subject to our members feedback.

The reason for putting our PPP scheme into place is because earlier this year was with payment problems with Atlas Bangladesh USD 30,000 luckily ASA collected this for our members. (Atlas is no longer a member of ASA-Network).

Now we have another situation with MTI Express in Morocco, which so far has not been completely resolved.

We therefore want to put forward a PPP scheme that will provide some payment protection to ASA members in the future. For this to be effective we need a PPP scheme that we can capitalise quickly.

The proposed ASA PPP scheme will be for an annual fee of € 200 p/a and to help build the fund quickly ASA will also contribute an extra Euros 200 into the ASA Trust fund for each ASA member when they join the scheme to be held for possible claims against payment defaults.

The joining date for each member will be when they renew their annual ASA membership as we will combine the PPP fee with the membership fee to avoid extra bank charges.  However if a member wants to join the PPP scheme before their renewal date we can raise a separate invoice for PPP to be paid directly to the PPP Fund account and they will be covered for PPP from date of joining.

ASA has already opened a special trust fund bank account to only be used for this ASA PPP.

We have attached a full guide to the ASA PPP Scheme and its rules/cover with details how it will operate.  To summarise key points, in the first year we will have to limit any individual claims to a maximum of € 5,000 but from the second year this will increase to € 10,000 per claim, and review thereafter.

We trust you will find this is a very good scheme which will offer significant protection against any possible bankruptcies or defaulted payments in the future. The cost is relatively cheap most other networks are charging in the region of USD 500 per annum for PPP.

But before we consider launching this PPP scheme for members and new members joining, we need to know from you if you want a PPP scheme and that you will join this scheme.

Please reply to Robert & cc Roy with your comments with answers to the two questions below.

  •              We want a PPP scheme – Yes/No
  •              We will join this scheme – Yes/No

Please let me have your replies as soon as possible

Many thanks for your help with this important issue.

Best regards

Robert

ASA Annual meeting/AGM 2022 cancelled

Dear Members,

We are very disappointed to advise that this years proposed ASA Annual Meeting/AGM will again have to be cancelled due to a few countries still having strict Covid regulations when returning from overseas trips making it difficult & expensive for some members to attend and mainly because we had a very poor response from our members about attending a meeting this year.

We feel very sorry for those members wanting to attend especially the new members wanting to meet other ASA members for the first time but in the end the numbers did not make it a viable cost effective option to continue going ahead this year.

We wanted to announce some important new service features and special notices at this meeting but will now make these via email in the near future.

Please all make a note in your diary that next year 2023 will be ASA 20th Anniversary and we want ensure next years meeting will be the biggest and best ever meeting the planned month will be October as usual. We will be arranging some special events to commemorate this.

Many thanks

Best regards

To all members who have still not replied to below email please do so now.

Secondly for all members MGM have advised that all the pre Covid restrictions have now all been removed, and things are back to normal in Thailand.

Dear ASA members, as you are aware we have been trying to find out how the members feel about holding an ASA meeting in 22nd October originally proposed to be in Pattaya Thailand.

The response back is still many of you are worried about Covid and travel arrangements , but we have approx. 30 members who do want to attend a meeting especially many of the newer members.

We are now proposing we plan for a smaller meeting based on approx. 30 + members and maybe move this to a destination in Europe or we can keep it in Thailand.

Can you please tell us by return if you would agree to attend such a meeting in October 22- 24/25.  We need your reply back as quickly as possible if we are to arrange this, it maybe if we switch it to Europe more of you would like to attend.

Rules for Red Alert System

Dear ASA members please take time to read below and attached are the Rules on Red Alert System and how to Operate/make a report.

Firstly the Red Alert System details are all located in the ASA members directory front page. This lists all ASA members and their countries, we have now added an extra line at the end after “Mailing and Website ” Red Alert” which when a member has a red alert report against them – there will be a Red triangle with a ! inside the triangle.

I have put on an example of MTI Express Morocco,  so scroll down the directory list to MTI – Morocco and you will see the triangle on the right side.

Secondly if you now click on MTI directory page it will bring up their entry, right at the top you will see a broad RED strip with the triangle and in clear capital letters Credit suspended. so this is how a message could look, but we can put any message we want such as Note: Very slow payers etc. or some other message.

This is a simple good visual we can use and members can see at a glance if we try to add more and make it more complicated will make become more time consuming and impractical without redesigning our whole ASA website at some considerable cost..

I have also produced a simple Red Alert Reporting form for members to complete and send.  Please look at this simple draft report form. we can amend this in the future if need be.

Reporting a Red Alert: When in the ASA Directory page if you click on any ASA member it will open that members info and on the top right of the page you will see a Red menu box “Report RED ALERT” click on this and it will bring up the form to complete and send to ASA Management.

Please take a moment to play with the system and read the suggested Rules, then let me have your comments/views, before we circulate this to all members.

The rules are attached to this link
