ASA Code of Ethics & Standards

Compliance of the following ASA Code of Ethics is obligatory for the professional, efficient and honourable operation of the ASA Network. Non-compliance or disregard of the following rules will result in disciplinary action:

  1. All accounts must be settled within 30 days from the date of monthly invoice (unless otherwise agreed).
  2. In case of any dispute which does not reach mutual agreement within 45 days, all parties concerned should report to the ASA Regional Director, who will investigate both parties and decide a resolution which must be accepted by both parties.
  3. All new members are subject to a provisional period of 12 months membership in order for the ASA committee to gauge their dedication to the network.
  4. All ASA members must be able to offer a full range of services including air and sea freight as well as customs clearance (unless agreed at the time of joining).
  5. All ASA Members must attend a Members Meeting within the 1st year of joining (unless exceptional circumstances prevail and with prior agreement from the ASA Director). From the 2nd year of membership, one year’s grace will be given. We strongly recommend members attend ASA annual meetings every year. However, failure to attend one of two successive Members Meetings may/will result in expulsion, unless the committee agrees not to implement this rule in any given year.
  6. If a member is deemed to have defaulted on a payment to a fellow member, the ASA Director reserves the right to notify all members’ using the ASA Communications Loop.
  7. If a member is reported by more than one member as being delinquent in meeting its payment agreements/obligations the defaulting member may be listed in the Credit Warnings section of the ASA website, and or expelled.
  8. In the event of expulsion, due to non-compliance with the ASA Code of Ethics & Standards, fees will not be refunded.
  9. Members are to agree to exchange only net/net charges and rates.
  10. Members may leave ASA at any time. Fees will not be refunded.
  11. Members must refrain from using the ASA logo if membership is terminated, and not solicit business from other ASA members.
  12. All Members must respect the nature of confidentiality involved in all client/business relationships.
  13. ASA cannot be held responsible and does not accept any financial liability for commercial and/or financial obligations that are not met by (a) ASA member(s).
  14. The ASA Directors may add to the ASA Code of Ethics & Standards at any time.
  15. ASA members are urged to offer all fresh business to their fellow partners within 1 year of joining and must actively support their fellow members in all domains, to generate new business mutually.
  16. ASA Members must respond to all sales lead requests and e-mail/faxes/letter communications within 48 hours.
